If your elected representative is not available\, ask if you can meet with one of their staff members instead.\nWhat to WEAR: Wear some dental hygiene regalia if you have it! (E.g.\, Membership pin\, “Hygienius” T-shirt\, hygiene squad colors (lavender is our traditional color). We recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes for touring the State Capitol.\nRead up on Dental Therapy (once you register\, you will receive documents to help you prepare)Be prepared to discuss your role in health care as a dental hygienist. Your education and training\, The licensing tests that all dental hygienists must pass before they can practice\, Your dental hygiene license – and what it takes to acquire\, The focus of our work (preventive\, therapeutic and educational)\, The scope of practice of dental hygiene\nKeep in mind that dental hygiene is a licensed and regulated profession. The people you are visiting and speaking to on Lobby Day are the ones who decide how your profession is to be regulated and what you will be allowed to do. They need to hear from you and to understand who you are and what you do.
