Preparing for Lobby Day

1. 1. Know who your legislators are (Assembly Representative and State Senator), the location of their offices and phone numbers. Click on the link to find this information: https://maps.legis.wisconsin.gov
   2. Contact both your senator’s and assembly representative’s offices before March 13 to make an appointment in the afternoon for a visit. If your elected representative is not available, ask if you can meet with one of their staff members instead.
   3. What to WEAR: Wear some dental hygiene regalia if you have it! (E.g., Membership pin, “Hygienius” T-shirt, hygiene squad colors (lavender is our traditional color). We recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes for touring the State Capitol.
   4. Read up on Dental Therapy (once you register, you will receive documents to help you prepare)Be prepared to discuss your role in health care as a dental hygienist.    5. Keep in mind that dental hygiene is a licensed and regulated profession. The people you are visiting and speaking to on Lobby Day are the ones who decide how your profession is to be regulated and what you will be allowed to do. They need to hear from you and to understand who you are and what you do. They are not the experts in dental hygiene – YOU ARE!
   6. We will ask everyone to visit not just their own legislators, but to drop off informational packets at a few other offices too so that every legislator at the Capitol will have the same information.
